India won the toss and chose to bat in the final of the women’s Tri-Series tournament against hosts Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday.

India will be the heavy favourites to win this match, and the tournament. Sri Lanka have only beaten them three times in a total of 33 ODIs between the countries and the hosts are appearing in only their first final in a tournament featuring three or more teams since 2009.

But Sri Lanka are an improving side and they will be encouraged by the fact that they beat both India – in their most recent match – as well as South Africa in the round-robin stages of the tournament.
