Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh made a sensational start for the Punjab Kings after choosing to bat first by posting an opening stand of 122 in just 10 overs in their IPL match against the Delhi Capitals at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Thursday.

But, following an hour’s delay to the start of the match because of rain, a power-outage caused the match to be abandoned after the dismissal of Priyansh for a swashbuckling 70 from just 34 balls with five fours and six sixes.

Prabhsimran was left unbeaten on 50 from 28 balls with seven fours.

The official reason for the abandonment was “significant technical failure” when two floodlight pylons became inactive and it became obvious that there was no chance of a restoration of power.

The result moved Punjab up to third place on the log with 15 points from 11 games but was a blow to Delhi’s chances of reaching the plaofffs as they remain in fifth place with 13 points from the same number of matches.
